Hot and Sour Vegetable is a popular indo Chinese recipe and a classic accompaniment with garlic rice or plain rice that the entire family will relish.
Ingredients for garlic rice:
Boiled rice 3 & ½ cup (measure before soaking )
Butter 4 tbsp heaped
Oil 2 tbsp
Finely Chopped garlic 4 tbsp
Green chilies sliced 10 to 12
Salt 1 tsp (adjust according to your taste )
Black pepper powder 1 tsp
Method :
Heat oil & butter in a pot.
Add garlic & saute for 30 seconds.
Then add in green chilies, salt and pepper stir well for 30 seconds.
Add in boiled rice & green /spring onion mix well and serve hot.
Recipe for Hot & Sour Vegetables:
Ingredients for sauce:
Chicken stock 2 & ½ cup
Ketchup ½ cup
White vinegar ½ cup
Cornflour 1 tbsp heaped
Sugar 2 tbsp heaped
Mix all ingredients well & set aside.
Other ingredients :
Peas 1 cup
Carrot cut in cubes 1 cup
Cauliflower 1 cup
Capsicum cut in cubes 1 cup
Onion cut in cubes½ cup
Tomatoes cut in cubes ½ cup
Salt 1 tsp
Spring onions ½ cup diagonally cut
Oil 2 tbsp
Finely chopped garlic 1 tsp
Method :
In your cooking pan or karahi add oil and garlic and cook for 15 seconds.
Then add peas and stir fry for 15 to 20 second.
Now add Cauliflower, carrot and stir fry for a minute.
After that add capsicum, onion, tomatoes, salt and stir fry for 30 seconds and then take them out in a bowl and set aside.
In the same karahi or pan add prepared sauce and cook until it becomes thick and saucy it will take about 1 to 2 minutes.
Then add stir fried veggies mix well....turn off flame and add spring onions & serve with garlic or plain rice.
